Updated: Nov 29, 2020

About This Software What is J.A.C.K.?J.A.C.K. (Just Another Creation Kit; previously known as Jackhammer) is a brand new level editor for games with a Quake-style BSP architecture. The aim is to develop a convenient cross-platform tool capable of incorporating the best features of existing editors, such as Valve Hammer Editor, Q3Radiant and others. Despite Quake and Half-Life having been released a long time ago, the large community have arisen around, still developing mods and games on their bases. However the existing editors suffer from fundamental disadvantages their users are well familiar with. J.A.C.K. does aspire to be the universal level design tool for classic games. But not only the classics! The editor evolves, there are plans to support Source Engine and Unity.Supported GamesHalf-Life (including mods and Gunman Chronicles)Quake (including mods and some Quake-based games, e.g. Hexen II)Quake II (including mods)Quake III (including mods and idTech3 based games, e.g. Tremulous)Main FeaturesCross-Platform Editing: the editor is available both for Windows and Linux users. Large memory addressing support: 64-bit version of the editor overcomes the 2 Gb available memory limit.Large Map Support: you can create and edit levels with dimensions up to 262144 х 262144 units.Extensibility: the editor supports plugins to extend its abilities.Multiple Game Formats Support: preview models and sprites of different games, open different map formats, from MAP to VMF.Realtime Texture Effects: support of transparency, texture animation and scrolling, and Quake III shader scripts greatly enhance perception during the development stage.Embedded Shader Editor: now the process of creation of shaders for Quake III and idTech3 based games becomes delightful!Curved surfaces: the editor supports curved surfaces (patches) used in idTech3 based games.Dynamic Sky Rendition: the editor renders skyboxes in the same way games do.Color Schemes: the editor's look-and-feel can be easily customized.Autosave & SteamCloud: configure autosave and cloud save functions to protect your project from editor crashes and own design errors.Additional Instruments: brush merging, triangulation, UV-Lock, multiple visgroups, model rendition in 2D viewports, automatic selection in 3D, preservation of internal connections, and many more...There is a full list of features on the official editor's web page. b4d347fde0 Title: J.A.C.K.Genre: Animation & Modeling, Design & Illustration, UtilitiesDeveloper:Crystice SoftworksPublisher:Crystice SoftworksRelease Date: 15 Dec, 2016 J.A.C.K. Directx 9 Download I've been playing around with the application's features, I feel very comfy with the tool since I've been using it for years now, but there are some things that bothers me, the main being the performance of the toolI'm using around 20.000 textures compressed in 3 wads, the application freezes for 1-2 seconds every time I go or leave texture application even though i have a workstation with quad xeon and 16 gb ramIssues ->1. the application crashing on selecting proprieties for entities under various conditions ( happened once )2. error "bad file header" when trying to open a previous project ( happened once )3. add proper default value on fx amount when using solid/additive/transparent rendering ( default now is 0 which renders entities invisible by default )4. low performance while browsing the textures on search mode5. low performance when accessing the texture application tool and after when selecting brushes Suggestions ->1. the possibility to save textures as favorites ( just like on sledge )2. a function to save all the used textures before optimizing ( applying null textures to not visible faces )3. a more nice looking UI. its good but it doesent use the bsp format. Great editor!. I got this editor to create Quake 1 levels for my own enjoyment with the comfortable layout/control scheme of Hammer/Worldcraft (an editor that I am very used to). I'm really happy with I've gotten out of this editor in only about 2 hours. It's very easy to quickly iterate on brushes and realign textures. There is a UV grid feature which I absolutely love, and lets you align your textures as perfectly as you want. It's cross platform too, meaning you can (potentially) save brushwork and use it in another game. If you are like me and you don't like leaving the comfort of the Hammer editor, but want to make levels for games such as Quake - then this is the editor for you.If you are new to level design or have more experience with modern editors, then I would suggest checking out Trenchbroom and see if that satisfies your needs.. i really recommend this software but you should add support for quake 2 CTF and Ground Zero and Reckoning i really want to make a map for this mods :)
